The Washington Section Institute of Transportation Engineers (ITE) and the Washington Chapter American Planning Association (APA) are excited to announce a joint virtual meeting this month.

Washington’s Electric Transition

In part fueled by Federal and State investments, agencies across Washington are aggressively planning to lower emissions through fleet electrification and creating a network of EV charging infrastructure. Join this panel to learn more about the transition to low and no emissions. This panel is jointly hosted by ITE Washington and APA Washington. Our panelists include:

  • Steven Hershkowitz – Transportation Electrification Policy Lead with Washington's Department of Commerce describing the development of the state’s Transportation Electrification Strategy (TES).
  • Colin Drake – Assistant Vice President with WSP,describing the planning process to support Pierce County’s Public EV Charging Infrastructure Framework a framework to identify hot spots for public EV charging demand.
  • Armand Shahbazian – Electric and Automated Mobility Policy Advisor with Seattle’s Department of Transportation supporting Seattle’s curbside EV charging in the public right of way program which will provide more than 60 charging ports in street parking spaces across the city, as well as the shared mobility program which enabled more than 2 million miles of electric travel on shared scooters and bikes in 2023.
  • Paul Sharman –Senior Project Manager with Transpo Group describing the zero-emission transition planning process for agencies across Washington State and in New York including evaluation of battery electric or other zero-emissions propulsion technologies and infrastructure upgrades needed to support this transition.
