President’s Corner: Notice of Annual Meeting and Proposed Bylaw Amendments for Review

As we head into the fall season, I wanted to make sure that our 1,300+ strong APA Washington members are aware of a few upcoming opportunities for your engagement and input.

Annual Meeting for Members in Vancouver in October

This year’s Annual Meeting, which is open to all members, will be held as usual at the 2026 Annual Conference in Vancouver.

Mark your calendars for Friday, Oct. 9, 2026 from 8 to 9 a.m. in the Heritage Ballroom ABEF at the Hilton Vancouver Washington.

The agenda will include updates on Chapter activities and news over the past year, as well as consideration of and a vote on proposed Chapter bylaw amendments. Read on for more on that topic.

Proposed APA Washington Bylaw Amendments

Since earlier this year, a subcommittee of APA Washington Executive Committee members has been working to review and suggest amendments to the Chapter bylaws that govern our association. Many of the proposed changes are editorial and/or intended to provided clarification or consistency, both internally (e.g., with the March 2026 APA Washington Board Handbook updates) and externally (e.g., with governance approaches in the bylaws of National APA or other non-profit associations).

At the July 17, 2026, Board of Directors meeting, the Board voted to advance draft bylaw amendments to further review by National APA and a vote of the membership. Per existing Bylaw 9.3, to amend our bylaws, we are also required to publish the proposed amendments at least one month prior to the Annual Meeting, at which a vote on the bylaw amendments will be taken.

The Board invites APA Washington members to provide comments on the proposed bylaw amendments in advance of the October 9 Annual Meeting of the membership.
