The purpose of the Section is to:

- Provide members local/regional expression of APA purposes and objectives;
- Provide a local/regional vehicle for APA members involvement in the affairs of the APA;
- Advance the art and science of planning;
- Encourage the exchange of planning information and experience;
- Generally function as a professional planners organization; and
- Coordinate and cooperate with governmental entities, allied professions, other planning/environmentally concerned groups.
The Benefits to members include:
- Communication with other Section planners to stay abreast of current events and activities throughout the Section;
- Training and education related to topics of interest to the Planning professional;
- Communication and information related to the Chapter’s legislative initiatives; briefing on recent Hearing Board and Court decisions;
- Staying current on AICP credit requirements by sponsoring training and courses that earn AICP credits, and
- Of course, socially interacting with our peers is also a welcome benefit of the quarterly meetings.
The Section Bylaws were updated in 2006.
New Items
The Executive Committee may decide to amend the Bylaws and create a distinct EC post for the PDO. There is also interest from the Chapter to have each Section provide a Legislative Liaison to participate in activities of the Chapter's Legislative Committee. If anyone has any questions, comments, concerns or ideas, please feel free to contact any member of the Executive Committee. Email links are provided below.
Peninsula Planners Forums
The Peninsula Section helps coordinate quarterly Planners Forums along with the State Department of Community, Trade and Economic Development (CTED). Generally, meetings are held the third Thursday every quarter. The content of the Forums will include items of interest pertinent to the host area. For example, if the Forum is in Port Angeles, the agenda will include activities and field visits that are informative about the community planning goings-on in the Port Angeles area.
