Job Description:

The position works in the Planning Division of the Community Development Department performing complex current and long-range planning work and assisting with policy development and implementation. The position is primarily responsible for the administration of the Dallas Development Code and the preparation and interpretation of comprehensive planning documents and amendments.

Job Duties:


Graduation from a 4-year college or university with major coursework in urban planning, geography, or a closely related field (a Masters Degree and AICP certification are preferred) plus a minimum of six years of experience in a city or county planning department with at least two years of supervisory experience. Any equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered. The successful candidate must possess excellent written and oral communication and organizational skills and have advanced knowledge of the principles and practices of land use planning with the ability to interpret and apply laws and regulations for planning projects and planning aspects of building permits. Customer service to a diverse audience is an integral part of this position, as is the ability to manage multiple and sometimes conflicting priorities.
