Job Description:

The City of Kenmore is seeking a college student to work on planning projects within the City’s Community Development Department. The position is open to college/university students or those who have been accepted to and will be attending school this year. This is a 6 month internship of approximately 16 hours/week, to start as soon as possible. There is some flexibility around the daily and weekly schedule and a possibility of job extension through summer 2018. Pay rate will be $15/hour with no benefits.

Job Duties:

Project duties include but are not limited to:

  • Conduct research, analysis and prepare reports on a variety of planning policy topics 
  • Assist in preparing information for the Planning Commission and Council, including preparation of maps 
  • Other duties as assigned 

Experience/Qualifications/Knowledge/Skills:

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills 
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, PowerPoint and Excel and web-based programs 
  • Ability to conduct independent research, compile and present results in a report format 
  • Availability to work 16 hours or more per week, October through March 
  • Familiarity with ArcGIS and Google mapping applications is a plus
