CPAT offers several levels of assistance. Upon submission of a completed CPAT Request for Assistance form, CPAT's Technical Advisory Committee will evaluate the request and determine whether the applicant qualifies for assistance, and if so, what level of assistance is appropriate. CPAT levels of assistance range from a consultation to various types of community-based events and follow-up activities.


Level Time Period Characteristics Resources
One 1-2 months
  • CPAT provides quick consultation (telephone or in person)
  • Identify other appropriate resources, such as U.W. Storefront Studio
  • CPAT: Less resources and time needed
  • City: Less commitment
Two 2-6 months
  • One-day event, public participation at beginning and end (similar to a shorter RUDAT)
  • and/or
  • Two-day event (similar to full RUDAT)
  • CPAT: Moderate resources and time needed
  • City: Moderate commitment
Three 6 months - 1 year
  • CPAT and academic institutions act as planning consultants
  • Phased / performance based planning
  • Level 2 ends with commitment on the City’s part to accomplish finite number of steps in 6 months. This is rewarded by CPAT with another event or ongoing consultation
  • CPAT: More resources and time needed
  • City: More commitment
Four 6 months - 5 years
  • Planning consulting
  • PAT and academic institutions can consider long-term commitment
  • Phased resources and ongoing commitment needed from CPAT, academic institutions, cities.
