APA Washington, as well as the Inland Empire and Puget Sound sections, subsidize scholarships.
OPTION 1: Sign on to assist with gathering data for and refining the CPAT program or to participate in one of the APA Washington Chapter’s Community Planning Assistance Teams (CPAT), depending on availability.
CPAT projects provide planning assistance to small jurisdictions throughout the state, are a great way to serve APA’s mission of “Making Great Communities Happen,” work with practitioners and put your planning skills into practice. Students have previously worked with APA professionals as part of CPAT teams in Woodland, Morton, Concrete and Cle Elum.

OPTION 2: Submit an article to be published in the Chapter’s newsletter
Write a 250-600 word article for The Washington Planner, our monthly newsletter. Anything planning related that is interesting to the student – a book review, school/internship project, new technologies, an interview with a local planning agency/planner, etc. are all appropriate subjects. All articles must be submitted by October 15, 2010. To get a feel for past newsletter articles, surf over to the Chapter website.

OPTION 3: Serve as the coordinator of the Student Poster Session at this year’s conference
Behind the success of each conference’s Student Poster Session is an energetic and capable coordinator. This is also a great way to network with fellow students and learn about their projects.
Contact Scholarship Co-Chairs: Gabe Snedeker and Tirrell Black
OPTION 4: Submit and present a poster at the Student Poster Session at this year’s conference
The Student Poster Session offers students a chance to showcase recent project work and gain exposure to professional planners from across the state. For more information download the invitation and entry form (PDF).

OPTION 5: Serve as an on-site volunteer at this year’s conference
Attend at least three of the conference plenary or breakout sessions (as assigned), to collect presentation materials and submit a written summary of session highlights. These will be compiled as conference proceedings posted to the Chapter’s website. Alternatively, assist in other conference related duties as assigned, such as serving as conference photographer, on-site registration staff, etc.
