Membership
The Washington State Chapter of the American Planning Association represents more than 1,600+ professional planners, employed by both the public and private sectors, as well as planning students, planning commissioners, elected officials, and citizens interested in planning. Chapter membership offers many varied opportunities, including:
- Building and enhancing your career;
- Informing and making a difference in public policy;
- Networking with local, regional, and national planners;
- Sharing your knowledge and accomplishments through participation in professional education workshops and conferences;
- Utilizing APA resources and the experiences of others to help achieve success for your planning goals and projects;
- Engaging and mentoring today’s planning students, our future planners; and
- Working with elected officials, business people and citizens to make a difference in your local community.
Your national dues also include membership in our local Washington Chapter.

APA Membership at a Glance
As of the Summer Quarter 2009, the APA Washington Chapter boasted a membership of 1,560 members. Membership is primarily comprised of Regular members, with 25% of the membership as Planning Official, Chapter-Only, Student, Life, and Retired Members. 40% of the Chapter Membership are AICP members.
