Milica Bajic Brkovic, Ph.D., Secretary General, International Society of City and Regional Planners; Planning Professor, University of the West Indies and University of Belgrade
Visit Mokra Gora, an ethno village reborn from childhood memories of a little train that took families on holidays, moved livestock from one farm to another, delivered mail and cut through the astonishing valleys and mountains of Serbia and Bosnia. Also tour a region in the Ruhr valley, which, only 10 years ago, was haunted by the shadows of mammoth steel plants. It is now reusing those rusty hulks and bringing ecological and economic redevelopment to its northwestern German communities. Dr. Bajic Brkovic will bring her experiences from these two unique places to describe how our cultural heritage, no matter where, can be the catalyst for successful, revitalizing landscapes.
Sponsored by the City of Tacoma.

PLEASE NOTE
Lunch is on your own following the closing of the conference.
